Day 1: Arrival in Hong Kong Participants from around the world will gather in Hong Kong. Accommodation will be arranged at the Regal Airport Hotel near Hong Kong International Airport. Upon arrival, the tour leader will brief the group on itinerary arrangements and important notices. Day 2: Hong Kong to Chengdu (Flight CX986, departure 10:20, arrival 13:15) The group will check into the hotel after arrival Chengdu and have free time to explore downtown or rest at the hotel. Day 3: Full day in Chengdu (Processing temporary Chinese driving permit) A full day in Chengdu including processing of a temporary Chinese driving permit at the vehicle administration office. Following the permit procedures, the group will visit city landmarks such as Wuhou Shrine and Jinli Ancient Street. Day 4: Chengdu – Kangding – Zheduo Mountain – Yajiang (400 km by highway and national road) After breakfast, depart along the Yakang Expressway crossing the Dadu River Bridge to Kangding, known as the “City of Love Songs.” After lunch, cross Zheduo Mountain (4700 meters), the first mountain pass on the Sichuan-Tibet route. This crossing marks entry into Tibet. Continue through Xinduqiao and arrive in Yajiang for overnight stay. Day 5: Yajiang – Heavenly Road 18 Bends – Maoya Grassland – Batang (300 km by national road) After breakfast, depart crossing the Jianziwanshan Tunnel and Kazila Mountain. Visit Litang, birthplace of the 7th Dalai Lama. The Tibetan name means “flat like bronze mirror grassland” referring to the expansive vast Maoya grassland in the county. Proceed across Maoya grassland and cross the Jinsha River Bridge to Batang for overnight accommodation. Day 6: Batang – Mang Kang – Ru Mei (150 km by national road) Depart Batang after breakfast, crossing the Jinsha River Bridge marking the Sichuan-Tibet border and officially entering Tibet. Continue along National Road 318 to Mang Kang for lunch, then proceed to Ru Mei town for overnight accommodation. Day 7: Ru Mei – Zuogong – Basu (290 km by national road) After breakfast, cross Dongda Mountain, the highest mountain pass along the Sichuan-Tibet route at over 5008 meters elevation. Arrive in Zuogong to admire the magnificent scenery formed by the Nujiang, Lancang, and Yuqu Rivers flowing which in a (Chinese character "川") -shaped pattern, symbolizing "time flowing ceaselessly." Traverse Yela Mountain and the 72 bends of the Nujiang Grand Canyon before arriving in Basu for overnight stay. Day 8: Basu – Ranwu – Laigu (110 km by national road) Depart early morning to traverse Anjula Mountain and reach Laigu Glacier, a collective term for several glaciers in Ranwu Township, Basu County. The glacier group includes Meixi, Yalong, Ruojiao, Dongga, Xiongjia, and Niuma glaciers, with Yalong Glacier being the most spectacular. It stretches from the main peak of Gangri Gabu Mountain at an altitude of 6,606 meters to Gangri Gabu Lake at an altitude of 4,000 meters. Climatologically, it is located in the main channel for the Indian Ocean monsoon to transport cold air to the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. The precipitation is sufficient, which is conducive to the development of glaciers. It is a marine glacier. Day 9: Laigu – Ranwu Lake – Bomi (120 km by national road) Depart Laigu after breakfast, visiting Ranwu Lake, itself a tributary to the Yarlung Tsangpo River. The lake changes color with seasons, appearing blue or turquoise, reminiscent of a dreamy highland. Proceed to Bomi, enjoying peach blossom scenery along mountain roads, arriving at the hotel around 6 PM. Day 10: Bomi – Nyingchi (230 km by national road) Depart after breakfast, following the Palong Tsangpo River upstream, enjoying forested landscapes and pristine nature and enjoy Lulang stone pot chicken for lunch. Cross the Sejila Mountain and find the best viewing point to overlook the magnificent Yarlung Zangbo Grand Canyon and the majestic Namjagbarwa Snow Mountain. Day 11: Linzhi – Ganden Monastery – Lhasa (380 km via highway) Continue on the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, known as one of the most accessible routes along the Sichuan-Tibet line. Travel along the Niyang River, passing ancient ruins and grasslands. Cross Mila Mountain, transit Gongbujiangda County, and enter the sacred city of Lhasa via the Lhasa River. Day 12: Lhasa – Shigatse (270 km via highway and national road) Depart for Shigatse after breakfast, stopping en route at Yamdrok Lake Scenic Area one of Tibet’s three sacred lakes. The lake’s turquoise waters and surrounding snow mountains create breathtaking scenery. After lunch, continue to Shigatse for hotel check-in and getting the border pass. Day 13: Shigatse – Everest Base Camp (390 km via national road) Depart early after breakfast for Everest Base Camp. Mount Everest, also known as Qomolangma, stands at 8848.86 meters, straddling the China-Nepal border. The mountain formed approximately 65 million years ago during the collision of the Indian subcontinent and Eurasian Plate. The Himalayas continue to rise around 7 centimeters per century. Day 14: Everest Base Camp – Shigatse (390 km via national road) Return to Shigatse and visit Tashilhunpo Monastery in the afternoon. The monastery, founded in 1447, is a major religious in Tibet. Tashilhunpo Monastery covers an area of 150,000 square meters. with 57 monks' quarters and over 3600 rooms and displays Tibetan traditional craftsmanship and architectural features better express the Buddhist art of Tibetan Buddhism and the solemnity of the Panchen Lama's stupa. Day 15: Shigatse – Bange (via Serling Tso Lake, 500 km) Depart Shigatse traveling toward Bange via Serling Tso Lake, Tibet’s largest lake and the second largest saltwater lake in China. The lake was formed as a large deep-water lake on the Tibetan Plateau. Day 16: Bange – Lhasa (400 km via national road and highway) After breakfast, depart for Namtso Lake, one of Tibet's three sacred lakes, also known as the "Heavenly Lake." The lake is regarded as a holy site symbolizing body, speech, and mind; circumambulating the lake is believed to bring knowledge and merit, while shedding bad habits and suffering leads to spiritual attainment. Enjoy the vast blue waters meeting the clear sky, bordered by the majestic Nyainqentanglha Mountains in south. Then proceed to Nagqu town and continue onward to Lhasa city for overnight stay. Day 17: Lhasa City Tour Visit the Potala Palace, former residence of successive Dalai Lamas and the center of political and religious power in Tibet It houses a golden stupa that holds the bodies of successive Dalai Lamas., precious murals, thangkas, and Buddhist statues that embody Tibetan culture. Afternoon free time for independent sightseeing, including Jokhang Temple.
